Jinx by Meg Cabot

Title: Jinx
Author: Meg Cabot
Publisher: Harper Teen
Publication Date: August 1, 2007
Source: Library

Summary: It's not easy being Jinx.

Jean Honeychurch hates her boring name (not Jean Marie, or Jeanette, just . . . Jean). What's worse? Her all-too-appropriate nickname, Jinx. Misfortune seems to follow her everywhere she goes even to New York City, where Jinx has moved to get away from the huge mess she caused in her small hometown. Her aunt and uncle welcome her to their Manhattan town house, but her beautiful cousin Tory isn't so thrilled. . .

In fact, Tory is hiding a dangerous secret one that could put them all in danger. Soon Jinx realizes it isn't just bad luck she's been running from . . . and that the curse she has lived under since the day she was born may be the only thing that can save her life.

Review: Jinx was my second Meg Cabot book. After I devoured Airhead I was so eager to read more by her. And when I saw that I could get an ebook of this from my library I jumped at the chance. Was it as good, as I though it would be? No not really. But it was still good.

One of my favorite things about Meg Cabot is that her books are funny, and thankfully that was no exception with this one. I laughed to myself a couple of times and found myself connecting nicely with the story and the characters. But there was something off.

And I still can't figure out what it was.

It was probably that I didn't quite get what was going on. Was there actually magic, or wasn't there? I couldn't quite tell, you never knew. Even at the end. I like my standalones wrapped up nicely and while this did, I would like to know for sure.

I did like Zach, the love interest. He was a nice change in main love interests. He was just a plain old good boy. Jinx, or Jean was a good main character. Some of the time. She could be annoying and just really weird.

I'm not sure if I'd recommend this to everyone, but it was still pretty good.

I'm reading this one too. I only have a couple of pages left and I'm wondering how it will finish.
