Past Perfect by Leila Sales

Title: Past Perfect
Author: Leila Sales
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Publication Date: October 4, 2011
Source: Simon and Schuster Galley Grab

Summary: All Chelsea wants to do this summer is hang out with her best friend, hone her talents as an ice cream connoisseur, and finally get over Ezra, the boy who broke her heart. But when Chelsea shows up for her summer job at Essex Historical Colonial Village (yes, really), it turns out Ezra’s working there too. Which makes moving on and forgetting Ezra a lot more complicated…even when Chelsea starts falling for someone new.

Maybe Chelsea should have known better than to think that a historical reenactment village could help her escape her past. But with Ezra all too present, and her new crush seeming all too off limits, all Chelsea knows is that she’s got a lot to figure out about love. Because those who don’t learn from the past are doomed to repeat it….

Review: WOW! Past Perfect was amazing. It had everything I wanted and so much more.

The thing that really hooked me to the book, other than the amazingness of Chelsea, was the Colonial Village. I've never been to one but the nerd in me wants to be a stupid moderner so bad. I would even go for working in the village, like Chelsea. With my love for historical stuff out of the way...wait I have to mention Reanactment land! Reanactment Land is the Confederate home right across the street. Even though the Colonials hate them, it doesn't sound too bad.

Sales captures teenage love and drama so perfectly. Plus, Chelsea was such an awesome character. I felt like I had jumped into Past Perfect and was there with Chelsea and all her awesome historical buddies. I loved Fiona, Dan, Nat, Toad Boy...and yes they were all awesome. Read this book to experience the total awesomness of all those characters above.

I wasn't really sure what I would be getting plotwise in this book because the summary is so vague. The plot was so much better than I could have even imagined. It makes me so happy just to think about it!

There was, in my opinion, a really good lesson in this one, too. I love it when authors manage to incoperate a lesson yet keep the book fun and somewhat light. Sales was a master at that.

Past Perfect is definitely a favorite of 2011for me. With its amazing characters, TWO historical places!!!!, and a sweet romance Past Perfect just won me over.

I loved Past Perfect just as much as you did! The relationship between Chelsea and Dan was adorable, and the antics between the two historical reenactment places were hilarious! Great review, Katie. :)

Ah! I had the Galley for this, and didn't have a chance to read it. I wish I had now. So glad to hear that you enjoyed it! I'm definitely going to have to pick up a copy. :)
