SummaryDancia Lewis is far from popular. And that's not just because of her average grades or her less-than-glamorous wardrobe. In fact, Dancia's mediocrity is a welcome cover for her secret: whenever she sees a person threatening someone she cares about, things just...happen. Cars skid. Structures collapse. Usually someone gets hurt. So Dancia does everything possible to avoid getting close to anyone, belieiving this way she can supress her powers and keep them hidden.

But when recruiters from the prestigious Delcroix Academy show up in her living room to offer her a full scholarship, Dancia's days of living under the radar may be over. Only, Delcroix is a school for diplomats' kids and child geniuses--not B students with uncontrollable telekinetic tendencies. So why are they treating Dancia like she's special? Even the hottest guy on campus seems to be going out of his way to make Dancia feel welcome.

And then there's her mysterious new friend Jack, who can't stay out of trouble. He suspects something dangerous is going on at the Academy and wants Dancia to help him figure out what. But Dancia isn't convinced. She hopes that maybe the recruiters know more about her "gift" than they're letting on. Maybe they can help her understand how to use it...But not even Dancia could have imagined what awaits her behind the gates of Delcroix Academy.

Review: The Candidates was quite the interesting book. While, I was a a little disappointed with the characters, it still managed to keep my interest. till the end.

To be honest this book was just meh on everything. That's not to say it wasn't a good book because it definitely had its moments but overall it just made me sad.

I really didn't like Dancia, she annoyed me. She was, what a freshman?, and she acted a little immature. Yes, some freshman are insanely annoying and immature but I do happen to know one who isn't that immature. The two love interests had me screaming NO over and over again. Even the grandma creeped me out.

There was some snappy dialogue and funny moments that did redeem the characters a little.

The plot dragged a bit in places but I did like some of the "powers" the characters had.

The Candidates was a fun read, though, the characters definitely put me off.

Hmmm, I've not heard of this book before. Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the characters very well. I hate it when that happens!

Bummer! It's kind of annoying when characters act younger than their supposed age. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Katie!

I liked this one okay but not enough to pick up the second book. The characters just didn't catch my interest, unfortunately. Thanks for the review!
