Summary: In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

Debut author Veronica Roth bursts onto the literary scene with the first book in the Divergent series—dystopian thrillers filled with electrifying decisions, heartbreaking betrayals, stunning consequences, and unexpected romance.

Review: When I first saw people adding Divergent on GoodReads, I thought: That book looks awful, I'm never going to read it. It will never be for me. Then it started to get a lot of hype, and I wondered if maybe I should give it a try. I did give it a try, and it was one of the best books I have ever read. I absolutely felll in love with it.

Tris was this amazing character. I could connect to her so easily, she was written so, so well. When she felt brave, I was brave, when she hurt, I hurt. And on and on and on. The emotions ran that deep in Divergent. I loved following her story and her struggles.

Four, was this total hottie. I mean I don't quite even know what he looks like, but he was hot. He pushed Tris to work harder and he did many other spectacular things. He is just as amazing as Tris.

And the Dystopian Chicago world Roth created was magical, it was so special and unique. The factions were so original and such a great idea. Not to mention messed up, but it was awesome. And I have so many questions about everything!

Divergent is so long! Yet there was never and I repeat never, a moment where I was bored or where the plot dragged. Never. I didn't even want to finish it, it was so good.

Just read it. IT IS AMAZING!
