Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter

Title: Uncommon Criminals
Author: Ally Carter
Publisher: Hyperion
Publication Date: June 21, 2011

Summary:  Katarina Bishop has worn a lot of labels in her short life: Friend. Niece. Daughter. Thief. But for the last two months she’s simply been known as the girl who ran the crew that robbed the greatest museum in the world. That’s why Kat isn’t surprised when she’s asked to steal the infamous Cleopatra Emerald so it can be returned to its rightful owners.

There are only three problems. First, the gem hasn’t been seen in public in thirty years. Second, since the fall of the Egyptian empire and the suicide of Cleopatra, no one who holds the emerald keeps it for long — and in Kat’s world, history almost always repeats itself. But it’s the third problem that makes Kat’s crew the most nervous, and that is . . . the emerald is cursed.

Kat might be in way over her head, but she’s not going down without a fight. After all, she has her best friend — the gorgeous Hale — and the rest of her crew with her as they chase the Cleopatra around the globe, dodging curses and realizing that the same tricks and cons her family has used for centuries are useless this time.

Which means, this time, Katarina Bishop is making up her own rules.

Review: I've been a fan of Ally Carter for a long, long time. She never has disappointed me, and this is no exception!

Uncommon Criminals, the sequel to Heist Society, is, simply, a mind-bending roller coaster of trying to pull of the ultimate heist.

Carter immediately pulled me back into the world of Kat and her awesome thieving friends. How a book about teens breaking the law can amaze me, I'll never know but I'm convinced the Carter is some genius. All I know is that I could never me a thief, if I went by Kat standards.

One of the things I enjoyed most about this was seeing more of the Bishop family history. Or maybe I should say heist history.

The only thing that bothered me about this was that I felt disconnected to Kat. She goes through quite a bit of change in Uncommon Criminals and I just felt a little detached from her. My favorite character is, of course, W.W. Hale. Hale is just the sweetest, hottest boy in Kat's world. And he is awfully smart! Along with Hale my other favorite characters are back and ready to do some amazing things.

Carter strings you along the entire time, keeping you in suspense and on the edge of your seat. I was dying to know how they would accomplish things in the end. It was devious and oh so clever!

Uncommon Criminals is a great sequel to Heist Society. I can't wait to see more of Kat and her crew in the future.

Rating: 4.5 stars

So I wasn't the biggest fan of Ally Carter's Gallagher Girls series...I'm wondering if the Heist Society books might be better suited to my taste! I'm so glad the 2nd book in the series was nearly as good as the first! Great review. :)

Great review! My daughter read and enjoyed The Heist Society earlier this year! She can't wait to read this one, if our library ever gets it in. ;)

Great review!
